As an aspiring designer living in New York City, I never thought I would be dedicating my time to studying the Criminal Justice System.

However, a tragic event in my life altered the course of my ambitions irrevocably. In November 2020, my little brother Nick Sada and his crew mate Davyon Rose lost their lives while on duty on Interstate 94; an incident that not only shattered my reality, but also opened my eyes to the fragility of life and the systemic issues within our justice system. In the wake of this tragedy, I became acutely aware of the vulnerabilities we all face in our daily lives. The incident not only robbed us of two promising young lives but also ignited in me a commitment to understanding and advocating for justice. Putting my dreams on hold, I now immerse myself in the intricacies of this field.

Ultimately, my hope is that by continuing to share our story, we can inspire others to take action, whether it is in advocating for safer roads, supporting victims’ families, or holding individuals accountable for their actions. Through this journey, I have come to believe that our collective efforts can contribute to a safer, more just society for everyone, ensuring that no one else suffers a loss like ours.

In Solidarity,

DS
